Is this the warning light on the dash or the brake lights at the rear of the car?

If it's the warning lamp, check your brake fluid level.

Body Damage is Cool
By the way, that's usually a good indicator that your pads & shoes are worn & close to due for a replacement. As your brake pads wear the friction material down, the piston moves further out of the caliper in order to make the pads contact the rotor. The space behind the pistons gets filled by fluid from your master cylinder. When your master cylinder is very low on fluid, it's time to check your brake pad thickness.

For over 4 years, my brake warning light has come on any time the temp gets below 45 degrees.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
On my Dad's Toyota PU the actual taillights would stay on when the temp got down below freezing unless he stomped the pedal a few times. The brake light switch on the master cylinder was sticking on.
Duh, now that I read this, it's the dash warning light, but still... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/drunk.gif" alt="" />
