Hi,everyone. New here and these will be my first questions. I have a worn out Driver's Seat and found a replacement I'm holding ready to install. I just had the Engine replaced, Transmission replaced, Cat.'s renewed, and O2 Sensors replaced with OEM's. After work was completed the Check Engine Light came on, and the mechanic said code was showing a bank2 lean but number readings from bank1-2 were o.k numbers and the PCM could be going bad if the light comes on again. I understand in disconnecting the Driver's seat I need to disconnect the battery first and NOT turn the key in the on position. I read this is to ensure no damage to the PCM, and especially not to get the Airbag Indicator Light On. My fears of doing the Driver Seat swap are: All the work done recently will throw off performance, the check engine light will reappear, and more importantly I'll be stuck with a Airbag Indicator Light turning on. (1)Are these fears valid and what would be the proper approach? Other minor issues with the vehicle are: Power Mirror switch is not working. I just came across a hard spare tire cover, from the old vinyl type and the rear window windshield wiper is getting stuck when it moves to the passenger side, if I press on the plastic tire mold case closes to the wiper blade it operates like normal. (2)What could cause this to be rubbing? (3)Was there a bigger spare in it's place before stretching the molding? (4)How do I get the power mirrors working again? This vehicle has had a lot of expense put in it, not an intentional rebuild but no going back now. Heard good things from a fellow Trooper owner, so pick'd up the Acura Slx Clone and has been a mechanical nightmare. It drives well now, and I enjoy many aspects of this vehicle: roominess, giant sunroof, hatch door that swings to the side not above head (ouch), 4x4, and built like a tank. Your forum gives hope that these vehicles are fun to drive, reliable and most of the mechanics I've come across saying there nothing but a POS are wrong. The problems on these vehicles can be solved, they just need the right tender loving touch.

You don't have to do anything special to remove the drivers seat.
Slide the seat all the way forward, remove the rear bolts holding it in, slide the seat all the way back, remove the bolts in the front, disconnect the wires that go to from the
seatbelt to the harness in the floor. If you have seat heaters, remove those wires as well.

Push the seat button to fold the seat forward, lift up, and
carefully pull it out.

When putting it back in, do the reverse.
Put some blue loc-tite on the threads of the seat bolts when
reinstalling.

No need to disconnect the battery and no need to worry about
ECM damage.

Thanks litnin/rockwarrior, for the response. It' a "98" Acura SLX, with leather seats and seat heaters. I was able to uninstall seat replacement to be going in, so I know it has two clips for two sets of wires bunched to together and for bolts holding it down one longer to the back right rear and looks to have blue loc tite on it, because it's the only bolt with blue threads. I was worried, because after picking up the vehicle from repair shop, I asked how would I go about the swap and they told me it could set off the Airbag indicator light and to disconnect the battery. I know, putting a new alarm in no problems and disconnecting the cd player no problem with air bag light coming on. So, if your sure and sounds like you are, I'll go ahead and get this done asap. Anybody here also familiar with the procedure. I know the Airbag light can be reset but for how much money?

As far as I know, Isuzu did not use airbag sensors in the seats. In general, these were for pickups where children and people of small stature, did not have the option of sitting in the back seat.

I can imagine it being a problem newer models of vehicles.

O.K, thank you guys. I'll go ahead and proceed, because I really do not want to disconnect the battery. I'll keep u posted how it goes when completed. If I have time during the week, I'll give it a try, or this coming weekend tackle it. I really hope the light does not come on.

Body Damage is Cool
THERE IS NOTHING UNDER THE SEATS EVEN REMOTELY CONNECTED TO AIR BAGS ON THIS TRUCK, IT IS A SEPRATE STAND ALONE SYSTEM,
NO REAL REASON TO DISCONNECT THE BAT EXCEPT FOR THE SAFETY ASPECT IN CASE YOU CUT OR SCRAPE A WIRE UNDER THE SEAT , IT DOES HAVE HOT AT ALL TIME WIRES UNDER THERE , AND IT ALLSO IN NO WAY SHOULD AFFECT THE CEL, TO COME ON OR OFF, IF IT DOES THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE CAUSING IT , JERRY

Thanks for the support JLEMOND. Sorry for the delay everyone, busy weekend and overlooked Superbowl Sunday. Did some prep work though by Vacuuming, Window Cleaning, Simple Greening, and Leather conditioning interior and new seat being installed. Also, took your advice and bought some Loctite Blue Threadlocker $5.98 w/o tax included. Well, with new founded confidence of not setting off Airbag or any Elec.light indicators, it looks as simple uninstalling new seat and reinstalling the seat in it's new home. Keep you posted when all is completed, hopefully this weekend or sooner.

Well, here's the update. Saturday, I was able to replace driver's seat and passenger seat without setting off Airbag or any light indicators, good news. The drivers' seat was fairly new condition, and the passenger I just uninstall because it gave me a chance by having both seats removed to do some more cleaning where I could not reach before. I did notice a square aluminum Isuzu labeled box with electrical wires attached, kinda like an amplifier device. Could this be the ECM for the vehicle? Just curious. Reinstalling the seats was just as easy having uninstall them. I applied the Loctite Blue threadlocker to all eight bolts for both seats, and the power seats and seat belt sensors are all working fine. Thank you, everyone for your assistance.

On first-gen Amigos, that's the ABS computer. The ECM is behind the driver's-side kick panel. I'd imagine its the same for the Troopers.

My Rodeo has the security system box under the driver's seat. There's also a box under the passenger, but I can't bring to mind right now what that controls.
