Yeh, I broke a tooth or two. Haven't felt the pain yet. Unfortunately it will be the wallet that will feel the most pain. I'll just have to bear the brunt of cold temperatures until the tooth is repaired. I only have my JD2555 for doing the feeding with, and it doesn't have a cab. The JD7410 is now in the shop and I'm waiting on their diagnosis as to how bad it is. The symptoms are it will slip in one spot then it will grab and work for a bit, then slip again. I think it is the drivers side bevel gear in the differential, but who knows. At least on that side there is a spot where I can rotate the tire a few inches where in most places it will only rotate less than an inch. The passenger side tire will only rotate less than an inch. If it is what I think it is then I'll have them replace the bevel and pinion gears. Yes it would be cheaper to just replace only the broken gear, but I don't like running old and new gears against each other. The other possibility is I damaged the main spiral bevel gear, but then why am I getting different movements on the wheels.

Looks like it was not setup properly at the factory. No broken teeth, but the pinion gears were definitely slipping. It will be a couple of days before they get it back together. The parts finally came in late today. And yes, it is a John Deer 7410 tractor and is the front axle, not the rear.

This is the first problem I've had with a John Deere tractor that isn't related to being plain worn out from 1000s of hours of use and abuse. I end up fixing allot of other equipment, but the tractors keep going. Thinking about it I've had to repair everything except the JD tractors, Meyers silage wagons, and Heston mower. You have to watch out with that Heston mower. It will mow off T-posts.
