Getting the Wheeling Fever
I figure im going through about 1/4 gallon of coolant for every tank and a half of gas. I have inspected the engine bay quite throurally and have not found any leaks. One thing i notice is that there is ALLWAYS water dripping from my muffler, i know that was the sign of a leaking head gasket in my yoda.
Anyways im stumped...any ideas??

No milky colored oil or oil in the radiator I assume. Also, check for bubbles in the radiator when the engine is idling. That would be a sign of a leaky head gasket. If the water at the muffler doesn't clear up after the engine's been run for a while and condensation should have been burnt off, that could be a sign of a leaky head gasket or cracked head or block. You may want to have your cooling system pressure tested. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Body Damage is Cool
If it is a blown headgasket at only 84K miles, that sounds like someone did not do regular maintenance on it, if at all.

Gun it and run it!

Both my Jeep (98 TJ) and my Dakota drip water from the muffler while running when they are first started. Neither vehicle is losing coolant. It's just condensation I think.

Well Idr what you have is simply a leak somewhere.. Stop looking into the engine bay and crawl under her with a flashlight.. You will find ONE DROP of green liquid where the leak is..
Head gasket leaks mostly leak compression backwards into the coolant passages and the coolant PUKES out the overflow.
Small coolant leaks are hard to find...but you can do it from the bottom...not the top.

i took it to work and did a pressure test. It leaked from 16psi to about 11 psi in about 10 mins.
I looked under the car and i saw a few drops around a steel line going into my rad.

The last couple weeks here (MN) have been REALLY cold, im wondering if that had anything to do with it. It recently warmed up and it hasent leaked much if any coolant. but while it was cold it leaked alot...

also look at the water pump bottom, the spining pulleys have a way of dispersing the coolant when its in the early stages of the bearings going.

always working

GOOD JOB! Now prolly all that is needed is to tighten the clamp on the radiator hose. But make sure where the leak really is first. That metal line doesn't have coolant in it.. The leak is ABOVE that line.
