Getting the Wheeling Fever
Now that I am keeping my truck, I want to get it squared away. I hacksawed the top 3 inches off my antenna a few years ago because it was higher than the garage door. Now I have a bigger garage so I want to get an antenna back but I want the flex type so it doesn't snap off if I hit limbs or whatever with it. Any help? Are all antenna bases the same thread?

Nope... I accidentally broke my antenna off and had to git a quick replacement. I ended up with a $7 Walmart rubbery type one. Works okay in town but out on the road it leaves a lot to be desired. It's only about 14" tall or so...not too bad as it does flex in the wind or when you clean the windshield... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I can't specifically make a product recommendation but be sure what you buy is a base-loaded or electronically-lengthened antenna. The antenna on any vehicle has a length that is determined by the wavelength of the frequencies it's built to receive. A base-loaded antenna will have a coil at it's base that effectively simulates the length of the wire making up the coil if it were to be straightened-out. A shorty antenna without a circuit or coil to emulate the longer mast will not work worth a darn. I would expect such an offering to be in the >$30 range. I can't remember how the antenna mount is on the T's-- this is a great article; take a look at the pics and see if that's doable for ya.
