on friday I finally got my John Deere 7410 tractor back with a half shoe box full of warn out parts. The replacement parts only cost a measly $3,500. Basically the whole differential core was heavily warn out. It was the opinion of tech who did the work that the differential should never had warn out so fast, it had less than 2500 hours on it. He figured it likely suffered from two problems. First it wasn't setup correctly at the factory, and second it wasn't lubed with the right oil. The oil in it was the original oil that we received it with. At some point they switched to using transmission hydraulic fluid rather than the 70-140 weight it had in it.

Without looking at my records, $65,000 with 740 series loader in 2002. It would be a little over $100,000 to get the same tractor now.

I have some issues with Deere. Once had a 690B trackhoe that wore out the engine. Bought a new long block from Deere and installed it, and it blew all the oil out in less than 5 hours and died. Deere declined to honor the warranty. Apparently we were supposed to know that we had to plug some crankshaft drillings that were open in other uses of the engine. Didn't bother to give us the data sheet with the engine. Claimed we should have have the dealer install the engine. They lost the law suit big time...
