stock is usually 4.10 to one.
33 inch tires to return to stock gearing ( where the speedo reflects actual speed) is 4.88 to one.
the gears that I run with 36 inch tires is 5.29.

the lowest gears available are 5.71 to one but have a rep for being weak due to pinion size.

I would say go with the 5.29s and rev it a bit higher.
with 31's and 5.29s I would (just a guess) say that 60 mph would be reading 75 on the speedo.
75 would read around 85 to 90 on the speedo.

oh and remember that you have to do both ends...

just go to the junk yard and get everything that you need for the ac, wires, switches, interior core. ac is a ***** to put in one that dosn't have it. alot of little stuff that is easy to over look when buying from the junk yard.

wow 5.29's w/ 31's? 4.56 gears would put you back to stock and make your speedo right. they can be found in just about any automatic 90-95 4Runner for next to nothing. just make sure you check the gear code, there could be 4.88's depending on whether or not the truck had the factory 31" tire option.

but really, are you just getting gears b/c you're installing an a/c system? my truck ran great w/ the factory 4.10's and 31" tires. the speedometer was off by 10 % but i liked the lower revs on the highway for daily driving.

regearing back to stock is never a bad idea, but if i were you i would see how my truck runs once i put the a/c in and then decide if it's necessary.
