Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 96 with a 4.0, It has always started easily till yesterday morning. I cranked it for a long time, stopped, then on my re-try it started on the first grunt, at lunch the samething, and when I went home, again endless cranking, followed by a perfect start on the retry.

Any ideas?

Body Damage is Cool
Turn the key to the on position, count to 10, then try starting the vehicle.

Gun it and run it!

Crank-but-no-start could be the CPS (or CPS connection) going bad. If there's spark, I'm wrong.

Try fiddling with the connection. IIRC, the CPS is on the top of the bell housing, driver's side. The connection should be accessible above that from the engine compartment near the firewall, left/port side.

Thanks for the reply,

she starts, and starts easily the second time. The first crank wont start the engine,
I have done a little research and see there is a vacumb fuel regulator. And it looks like I need a special fuel gauge to test this regulator. I would guess the pump is ok, and probably the fuel filter too, I have turned the key on for a brief period (letting the pump make pressure)before trying to start and there is no change, cranks the first time, starts the second time

Anyone had any expirence with this?
