TPS throttle position sensor...Tells the computer how far down your foot is pushing the skinny pedal.. If it lies to the computer funny things can happen.

ok so i went to the mechanic and we replaced the tps and the problem with starting the car went totally away as of today! great, but the bad news is that it did not fix the idling that occurs after driving a couple of miles. i try to accelarate with my foot pedal to the metal and nothing it just stays there on idle, then it knocks and makes a weird noise and picks back up, this repeats a couple of times. the funny thing is that this luckily always happens when im coming home, could it be my house thats messing my car up J/K!!! i thought that replacing the tps would fix it but it did not. any one have any suggestions, can it be the iac? dirty or maybe broken?

big jim the piece i did not know the name of was the piece that is like an inch right next to the tps. literally an inch away, and it has the same two screws that need removal like the tps.

I'm pretty sure you are asking about the Idle Air Control (IAC) Sounds more to me like maybe a CPS (cam position sensor) Since you say it idles well I doubt the IAC.
I'd like to know more about just what the enine does when it acts up. Sounds like it is at temp when it does it's thing.. lectric items usually start acting badly when at temp first before going completely south. Coils and condensors are notorius for running good cold.
Also could be a spark box as they do the same. In fact I'd start there.

ok so i went to the mechanic and ran a check engine diagnostic and a bad o2 sensor showed up. As of today i havent felt the problem. ill repost if it does.

but funny thing, everytime i used my air conditioner the idling while driving fast would act up, so i tested it out today, i used the ac for around 30 minutes then when i arrived to my house and turned off the truck it started spilling water from the cap of the radiator ( im not really sure if its for the radiator but its the cap right in the front of a cherokee 97 to your right and it also spilled the whole coolant reserve tank? can this be a radiator problem?
any suggestions?

thanks

Yeah the o2 will give similiar problems also...good job.
Now to the loss of coolant.. You do know to leave the cap off and run the engine while filling the coolant reserve tank? If the engine IS FULL of coolant and it pukes out the overflow you could have one or more problems. A bad, leaky cap or A STUCK or partly operating thermostat would prolly be the most common possible problem then a bad fan clutch or fan belt if the vehicle has a lectric fan then maybe look there first Last would be worst.. a leaking head gasket or cracked head..

i did not know about leaving the cap off for coolant refilling, do i remove the cap then turn the car on or the other way around?

ok. ima definately use your advice when i go the mechanic center today as i have in the past thanks ill repost bout this soon.

since the installation of the 02 sensor front my idling while in high speeds hasnt showed up and its been 3 days. but today i nnoticed my check engine light went on again. also i have noticed that when i put in the new tps my problems starting my car went away, but since yesterday the car started with the same starting problem again, so im guessing the check engine will scan a tps problem, since the tps was not original, the original tps over here runs for $110, u recommend the original? so im hoping the scan says its the tps sionce im having the problem starting my car again, but weird cuz the tps is brand new, it could be that its not original thje piece, ill def just get the original piece if it is the tps..... ill repost thanks bigjim!!!
