J1850 VPW--The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 2, 4, 5, and 16, but not 10.
ISO 9141-2--The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 4, 5, 7, 15, and 16.
J1850 PWM--The connector should have metallic contacts in pins 2, 4, 5, 10, and 16.

If the vehicle is ISO9141 the K-line (7) should be at battery voltage when the bus is idle. I don't know about the other two.

You can tell by looking at the contacts installed in the OBD connector.


I knew early '96 Ts didn't use the ISO standard but wasn't aware of any '97s, let alone '98s that didn't use the ISO standard... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/zombie.gif" alt="" />

Guess best to verify by the pins in the connector as mentioned above..

Need a Spot
Found a blown fuse. in the fuse box. i guess the power sigal goes thru there. now its pulling codes. misfire on cylinder 4 generic. i guess i need to check the plug wire and then the coil resistance will be next..
