I was talkin bout one of the first on the list, which described a cuban sandwich that didn't sound anything like a cuban sandwich

Though to be fair, the "cuban sandwich" is really a Florida thing, brought over first to the Tampa area by the likes of Jose Marti and later by the those that got the boot by Castro and Che.

Today's Cuban sandwich, when eaten in Cuba, tends to be nothing more than cheese slapped between bread, though I'm sure that tourist places sell stuff more like what is eaten in FL.

I noticed down the list that there was a place in Miami proly near Little Havana that sounded more like what I am used to.

I was kind of wondering too, can't get a real cuban outside of little Havana. Luckily I have a bunch of family right around the block, ate about 5 sandwiches and drank quite a few Presidente's when I was down there in January

I think I'm gonna rent an RV and take a few months off to test the validity of this list...

The Brambleton Deli, in Roanoke, VA

I went there Friday night. Had the Virginia Ham Pretzel and beer fries. Still need to try the BD Special.

If that place had a Monte Cristo, I'd never leave.

I know it's their signiture sandwich and all, but once I tried their Hot Italian Sub, there was no 2nd choice... Every time that Kathy and I are passing through/near Roanoke, we always take a detour to the Brambleton Deli for 2 Hot Italians (fulls, of course! - and then I get to eat the other half of hers too )

Crap - now I'm hungry!

I didn't make the cut for spring lol. It was interviews and I haven't had the interview training. Might be back sometime in the summer...

We have a place here in Colorado Springs, "Some Like It Hot!", owned by a Puerto Rican family, that makes Cubans that rivals Pipo's in Tampa or anything from farther south.
