I bought another Mighty Max and need to know what the redline on a 1st gen montero with the v6 and 5 speed combo is? I just installed a tach and want to set the redline accordingly. I also just bought the 33" BFG M/Ts and will be slapping the shackle lift to resemble the D50 I had before.

I think its is 5500rpm. But the 3.0 quits pulling around 4500rpm. At least mine did.


99 Montero....15mpg! Sold (so sad)
02 Jetta TDI....48mpg!
03 2500 Ram QCLB Cummins....18mpg
02 2500 Yukon XL, We out grew the montero, at least it has one locker.....13mpg (sold)

mine is 6k. But yeah it sorta runs outta power around 4500-5k

my Raider was always good until she touched the red at 6 but the way my friends Raider with the 5speed was it ran out of steam really fast. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I wonder if engine condition and the extra weight of the montero had anything to do with you guys losing power??? Thanks for the info fellas and I will get pics up soon.
