Need a Spot
I did a swap on my 92 22r truck. I know it not a first gen, but at least this is a 22r to 5vz swap:

If you need a custom hood I know a guy in BC that you can talk to, he's pretty good but usually backordered so be prepaired to deal with wait times and his attitude.

Cheers

Same deal as my truck.

I have seen a 3.4 in an '82, done by Irbis Offroad in Colorado. Really the same as a later truck.

The hood space can be made up by a 1" body lift and slight hood trimming, plus a Suby hood scoop. Mine really did not require any trimming nor the scoop, just the 1" BL, but what the hey.

The Front Range Off Road Fab crossmember added to the simplicity of doing this. You will need to fab, or buy custom, the motor mounts. Mike R&Rd the motor maybe 6 times to get it perfect. That was without the BL, which would make things infinitely easier.

was the body lift for tranny tunnel clearance ? I really dont want to do ANY kind of body lift .

I can handle the crossmember , and motor mounts , I'll just be building my own ..
wiring is the only issue .. but I guess I can muddle threw that as well .

Roll Me Over
body lift is for intake manifold clearance - the rest is the easy part. smile I'll be doing this in the next year or so, just as soon as I get a 4.7 for my T100.

True, but... the 1" BL will make locating the motor mounts MUCH easier (note how many times Mike had to R&R the motor. The kicker is finding room for the crossover pipe, while having room to not roast the firewall nor your e-brake cable. It really will make things infinitely easier, even 1").

You really won't notice any difference with the BL. But you will as soon as you work on anything. It is worth it IMHO.

Thanks Bill .. motor (and "stuff" ) will be here next week , so I guess we'll see from there .

I am starting with a fresh frame .. so motor mounts and positioning should be ok ..

My trekker was hit on the front, right .. so needs a front clip replacement , as well as the new frame .

My new/used front clip
