I have three problems with my 2004 Rodeo that I took it in for.
CEL / Cruise Control Problem Feb 2 (Saturday): CEL came on. Only defect found: Cruise control would not turn on at the dash button with the CEL on. Feb 4 (Monday): CEL went off. Cruise control worked fine. I'm hoping they can pull a code.
Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) with no CEL Monday, Feb 11. Started Rodeo, had a strange whirring noise. Turned off ignition, noise persisted. Repeated again, same noise. With engine off and key removed, I looked under the hood and the whirring noise was coming from the anti-lock brake system. Pulled fuse to stop it. Problem persisted until I turned it in to the dealer today (March 4).
Fuel Fill problem Problem persists--when the needle is on (or below) empty and the fuel light is on, the 19.5 gallon tank fills up with only 11 or 12 gallons. The dealership in AZ said the amount sent from the tank sensor and the amount showing on the gage matched. I pointed out that meant it was a sensor problem. I'm in Texas now, and they were going to check the same thing. Once again I offered to go fill up the tank with a technician in the car. They said they had a machine that could tell how much gas was in the tank.
My guess is that it's the fuel sensor, and that is probably integrated with the fuel pump/sending unit. It's probably an expensive repair, and they're doing their part to keep costs down. I have a feeling I'm going to be taking pictures of my fuel gage and then the gas pump for a month or two and then calling a district or zone manager before they fix this one.
The biggest problem? I'm past the standard 3-year bumper-to-bumper warranty as of July 2007. When I was activated for the military again, I thought I grabbed the extended warranty info. I was wrong, it's in a box in storage in Tucson, and I won't be back for at least six months. I called the dealer who sold me the Rodeo, and the paperwork has been sent off to long-term storage. I might be sorta screwed on this one.
I'm going to hope they have something in their computer, some sort of record or the name of the extended warranty company. I'm guessing the dealer contracts to the same company for a period of time. I have the date I purchased it in my computer.

CEL / Cruise control - No codes stored. No luck for me. No cost.
Fuel Gage does not read correctly - Fuel sending unit intermittent fuel level at 2.9v-0.0 at low-4.22 volts. Replace fuel pump and seal. Covered by Isuzu Power train Warranty. As the dealer said, Isuzu is the only manufacturer he knows that includes the fuel system in the power train. My good luck. $346.08 saved.
ABS stays on - Diagnostic and pinpoint ABS DTC's 12-15-24-32-35. (I know, there should be a letter and some more numbers in front. I don't know what the codes specifically were) Trace wiring - Repair pins on ABS module to correct problem. All labor, $267.
Time to fax it in to the extended warranty company. Unfortunately, when I Google Fidelity Warranty Company, it doesn't say good things.
But the good news is I'm up and running just fine now.

The gas tank filled up with 16.5 gallons, and the needle still rested below full. A little turning around corners brought it up. I will continue to monitor to see if it's fixed.
Fidelity paid my claim, minus the $100 deductible. I have no complaints at all.

I put the car on the lift when I changed the oil. This let me inspect the work that was done.
While they were under there dropping the gas tank, I don't know how they missed all the oil from where the driveshaft enters the rear differential There's a nice line of older to fresh-slung oil (golden and wet) on the underside. You'd think they wouldn't miss a chance to do some more free, insured work.
It's not like Isuzu is going to get mad, take their toys, and go home.....again. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />
I just hate having to spend the extra time to round-robin and bug friends for a ride. And Dealerships wonder why people dislike them.
