Need a Spot

on my latest desert trip i turned off my truck durring a stop. when i went to start the truck it started but as soon as i released the key the truck died. the charge light was now on. i replaced the alt. and batt. then found that the signal wire that plugged into the alt. had no power. where does the signal wire get its 12v from
