I have a problem with my ignition not turning off the engine on a 84 d-50 4d55 diesel. I have to unplugg the harness going to the injection pump to shut it off. Are there any fuses or selinoids under the hood that could be the problem? Thanx.

There is a fuel cut off solenoid in the injection pump that has to be wired to a switched 12v source. When there's no power going to the solenoid (ign off) then it stops fuel flow. Sounds like you have it hooked to constant 12v instead of switched. I can't remember off the top of my head which wire it is, but it is one of the larger gauge wires in the injector pump harness. I will check the wire color for you next time I go out to my truck.

Yeah, diesels don't have an ignition, they shut off by cutting fuel. Looks like you're on the right track.
I've heard some crazy stories of turbo seals going and sucking engine oil into the intake. Then the engine keeps running on it's own oil until it blows up!
