do you guys think the aussie locker or lockright is a better limited slip for a late model isuzu with a dana 44 rear end? base your answers on dependability, functionality, personal experiences, etc. i'm trying to figure out which one would be best for me to purchase. thanks in advance.

Just to be clear, both of those are actual lockers ("lunchbox" style, using your existing carrier) and not limited slip units.

Body Damage is Cool
As has been said they are both lockers not LSD's

I have installed and used both actually all three(powertrax)
and of the two your looking at,I would go with the Aussie locker.

Main reason would be the added retention of the dowel pins,if you shear one off it will not fall out of the side of the locker housing, like the lokrite will.

The wife noticed no difference when I swapped her lokrite for the aussie.

Just to clarifyà
If you are looking for a Limited Slip, you are barking up the wrong tree.

Both the Lockright and the Aussie are full-on Lockers, designed and intended for serious off-road use. --- Anyone that has a locker can tell you, itÆs the greatest thing you could ever install for added traction, but it comes at a price û Lockers and paved roads arenÆt always the best of friendsà Sometimes a Locker can make your day-to-day driving experiences a wee-bit less than pleasant (if not downright irritating). --- But, if you spend enough time off-road to justify having it, then you tend to forgive a LockerÆs occasional on-road shortcomings.

AMEN!

While both of them are basically the same overall design, and function more-or-less identically -- the Aussie has a better æfinishedÆ look to it (cleaner machining and peen-treatment), as well as a couple of refined improvements over the Lockright.

Adding those semi-elliptical Spring Pin Retention Channels was truly a stroke of geniusà so simple, yet so very effective. --- If a Spring Pin snaps in an Aussie, everything stays put, and doesnÆt become debris for the R&P to munch on.

I have a Lockright in my D-44, but only because I bought it before the Aussie was availableà Had I made my purchase a year or so later, *after* seeing the difference between the two of them, there would be an Aussie Locker in my rear dif right now -- no doubt about it.

A couple weeks back I installed an Aussie locker in my rig. On the road it's almost unnoticeable; off road it's almost unstoppable. I went with the Aussie locker because I had also read it seems to be a better quality product compared to the others: stronger, more refined, fewer reported problems.

I have an install write up if you're interested.

Roll Me Over
I also have experience with both and recently installed a 10-bolt front Aussie locker from Indy4x. while you can't go wrong with either product... I give the edge slightly to Aussie for many of the reasons mentioned above.
