Getting the Wheeling Fever
My fiance decided today that I WON'T be lifting my sportage. She thinks I am going to roll it and has said she will refuse to ride with me if I lift it so...

FOR SALE:

Complete 3-3.5" Lift (includes)

2 - 6AA TJ Springs w/ only nearly no miles on them (taken off at the dealer)

2 - 1999 RAV4 Shocks (New in the box w/ hardware)

2 - Dave Scott Sway bar drop legs

2 - UPYOURKIA Front Spacers. (Painted Black)

(all of the parts are NEW and never installed)

I want to sell the kit as a whole, $200 plus shipping, but if no one is interested I will consider selling the parts seperately. $200 is about $50 less than what I bought the parts for so someone will be getting a pretty good deal, but I don't want to fight with my fiance anymore.

PM me if interested.

Thanks,
Chris Eichman

Body Damage is Cool
I am sorry to hear that she does not want to ride in a Sportage that is more stable and handles better than stock. The sportage has a lot of body lean when stock, with the lift (the setup you have) it stiffens the ride and the body lean is all but gone. Mine is lifted 4 inches and has 31" tall tires on it and both of my boys learned to drive in this vehicle and I had no worries of them rolling over usless they got realy stupid, and I bet they could have rolled it over easier with the stock springs. Just rember when you go higher also go wider and you stay stable (to a point).

Just my 2 cents, Dennis

95 Sportage, gone but not forgotten.
98 Jeep TJ, 4" Zone springs with RC Long arms, Ford 8.8", 4.56 gears & Detroit locker rear, D30, 4.56 & Detroit Trutrack front.

I tried all those excuses and she just wont believe it. I thought about just doing it and seeing if she noticed, but I think it will be pretty noticeable, and I know she'll throw a $h1t fit if she does notice.

that is crappy man. if it were me i would ditch the wife and lift the sporty, but thats just me!!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> just kidding
seriously though, my sporty definitely handles better now than it did stock, especially with the added track width and 10.5" tires and i dont even run the sway bar.

first, chris, you're OBEYING a woman. second, would you like to borrow mine for a minute so you can tell her she can't have something that is important to her simply because you have some odd opinion based entirely on imagination that it will cause something horrible to happen to her, to you, or to your relationship? let's start with that engagement ring, shall we?

You guys crack me up! If I've learned anything during my life it's you have to pick your battles, I bet we argued for 6 hours over this and she WOULD NOT budge on the issue. Now I just wish I had asked before I bought everything. The conversation went something like this.

Christine: "Hey, where are you going."
Chris: "Outside to work on the car."
Christine: "What's wrong with the car?"
Chris: "Nothing."
Christine: "Well then what are you working on."
Chris: "Installing a lift kit I bought....."
Christine: "WHAT!!!! NAG NAG NAG NAG NAG NAG NAG NAG"
Chris: "Fine. You win. I'll just sell it on the forum."

The End

don't let her see the post stating "NAG NAG NAG NAG NAG" or you will REALLY be in trouble!

I would normally ask and agree on things when I had a fiance, but now that I am married, I just do it, and explain later!! (well on the minor things anyway).

And since I am the one to work on our cars, she just gets to deal with what I decide to do!

I would be curious to know why she thinks its so tippy when lifted though, especially with stiffer springs, and wider tires, it felt MORE stable than stock.

but I know that no matter what anyone says, the fiance is going to win this one.

but since you gave in on this, make sure to use it to your advantage! Next time she wants something for herself, and you don't agree, be sure to bring it up, might help. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/butwiggle.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/nana.gif" alt="" />

Thats good to hear about it being more stable when lifted. I have had a 2" lift under mine for a while now and it's getting a 4" lift at the moment and I am worried it's going to want to roll easier on hills etc.
