Any favorite brands to use?

Anything to stay away from?

It's going in a 92 22re 5speed manual. I did search and only found results for Marlin. Any additional info is appreciated.

Thanks!

I've used NAPA's with no problems. Just make sure you take your flywheel in to get touched up.

Thanks M. My Toyota mechanic told me to get one from Kragen, Napa etc instead of a Toyota clutch-he said Toyota is using a remanufactured clutch and that it's junk. I just found this hard to believe. I've got a Napa across the street so I don't even have to thumb a ride! I talked to Tod yesterday and have the street RV head with a 261 cam on the way too... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" /> This rebuild is getting more expensive by the minute, but I guess it comes with the territory.

Thanks for the scoop!

The first clutch I put in my truck was from Carquest. I don't know whether it was the brand or if I just got a bad pressure plate but when I loaded up the drive train the clutch didn't want to fully release (When I pulled a trailer or loaded up the bed). It would drag slightly. I went with a Napa clutch kit and the problem went away. I installed a $30 ebay clutch kit for a friend and it's worked fine for a couple years now. If I had to buy one I'd probably go with one from Marlin.

My Marlin has been great, it has greater clamping force than stock, and he offers quite a few choices and the price is reasonable.

I also have the centerforce and not a problem with it. Get the kit and replace the clutch, pressure plate and throwout bearing. If you've never changed out your clutch cylinder, replace it too. They are very inexpensive and since you're in there anyway, might as well.
