Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hi all,

I have a leaking steering gear seal I need to replace. I have about killed my puller to no avail on the pitman arm. Its not rusted so I havent gotten out the torch. Anyone who has pulled a pitman arm have any suggestions on seperating the pitman from the steering gear? Ive banged down on it with a sledge too.

Thanks

1st ,I would bang on it.

I had to get the right puller. A big black OTC from Taylor rental. 2 6 in. jaws with bolts between to keep from popping off. Tighten it a bit , soak with P-blaster, tighten a little more, let it sit under tension for an hour or two, tighten some more. If you realy have to , tap here a there with a small ball pien. A PITA , patients, and good luck.
