Getting the Wheeling Fever
I made a neat modification today on my 95 SR. I have never been too happy with the light output of the fog lamps. They are high quality Bosch units, but they don't put out much light. Maybe they are too small.

Anyway I had a larger pair of Bosch fogs that I took off a junk BMW that are larger and have great output. I think they are called the "Pilot" series. I wanted to put them on the SR. They have the same mounting system but they are bigger.

I removed the scrape pan and removed the old lamps. I left the brackets and mounted the new lamps. They went right on. But now the pan wouldn't fit.

Two things are wrong: The plastic grille needs to be trimmed away. This is easy and it will be obvious where to snip it. I used tin snips and sanded the edges smooth.

Now that the lamps fit in the grille holes, the pan won't mount. It needs to be a little lower. So I made some small spacers out of steel tube. The spacers are about 1/2" long. I put washers on either side of the spacer and also replaced the front bolts on the pan with longer ones. The rear bolts needed no modification.

Bolt it all together and it looks pretty good!

Light output is much improved!

looks great! I recently put a pair of KC slimlites(titanium/ice bulbs) and it made a huge difference in the front end appearance.
