Getting the Wheeling Fever
I started my spring over to day. It took about 2 hours to get the springs out and axle cleaned up for a new set perches to be welded on. On reassembly I ran into a little snag, The upper shackle bolt is seized in the bushing and I cant get it to turn down to fit the lower bolt through the hole. Is it normal for only the upper bolt to be stuck? Any one have an idea of how to get it loosened up? short of torching out the bushing

If it's the factory shackle you will want to get those nasty things outta there! If you haven't done so already, then replace them with some good quality Indy4x shackles. My originals were all rusted and corroded and took hours to remove.

I soaked them in PB Buster, then wailed on them with a hammer, then my Dad and I finally got the factory shackles removed after a couple of hours of attacking them with a big pry-bar. If there is an easier way to remove shackles and bolts then I would LOVE to know what that is!

You might get away with soaking them with some sort of penetrating oil (Kroil, PB Blaster ect) but I would estimate your chances of that working as slim if they are really bonded in there.

You might as well break out the torch. It is probably the best and easiest way to get it done. Those bolts are very intimately associated with that rubber and are not going to give up very easily.

Good Luck,
Michael

I managed to get the shackles back together, it took a large pry bar and a com-a-long. Now I need to get another 5 inches out of the front end and it will be level.

Its unlikely you'll get 5" out of the front of a '93 without riding on the bumpstops (if even at that). I hope you're a fan of the hotrod look

Good looking Rodeo! I don't think the Rodeo looks bad at all with a little rake, where the Amigo's look pretty stink-buggy.

Be careful not to crank the front up so far that you're running on the stops -- hit a bump mid-corner and you'll see the folly in that.
