Took the newly acquired sportage into Kia service yesterday for 3 recalls. The got the seatbelts all replaced for free, the thing in the manual (whatever..), and then tried working on the gastank recall.

Well.... They had to reschedule me haha. The gas tank and mounting hardware were soooooo incredibly rusted that they couldn't break a single bolt loose. They ordered in a new gas tank, all new hardware, and all new mounting brackets. They'll be replacing it ALL for free next week

So. Definitely check with your local Kia dealer about your recalls. They said the fuel tank was over a $1000 job alone. So take advantage of it

the factory cat also costs about $1100.00. don't ask me why, when i can get a high-flow cat from a local muffler shop for between $100 and $140....

dealer prices are ridiculous. i'm very surprised this is such a tradition in the US. i guess warranties make it necessary, but, still, i'd have to think real hard about it it. recalls, that's another story, they can b!tch all they want about how much a recall costs them. as long as i pay $0.00, i'm cool.......

I think because having to go back, it would be hard for me, the dealer is about 40 miles away, I have been to the dealer once to get the power steering lines for my wifes Kia.

No no, i'm not saying its bad i'm getting the free work done. And the trip isn't inconvenient at all. I was saying the recall service went bad for the techs working on my sportage. I guess i should have worded it differently.

But no i'm not bothered or anything at all, i just feel sorry for the tech having to pull all that junk out and putting all new stuff in smile

haha, when they pulled my tank last a couple of weeks ago for the replacement, the guy wrecked the fuel filler hose and they had to replace that, took a week to get the part in, and then 2 guys called in sick for 3 days straight.
took 2 weeks to get done.

what i have learnt.....

kia rios are pretty fun to drive and have pretty good gas consumption!

I did'nt think the recall was good in Canada. If it is good do I have to wait till the tank starts leaking to get it replaced?

No, mine wasn't leaking, they inspected it and decided it would be best and safest to replace it all. Go check with Kia, you never know what they'll hook you up with smile

You got to ***** real loud! Actually Westend Kia and Sherwood Kia in Edmonton are pretty good when it comes to customer service, just went through my reciepts and the warrenty work Sherwood Kia has done is in ecxcess of $5,000 (Kia Money) Which dosn't say much for the quality of the vehicle we have!
