Hi i have a 92 Amigo 2.6L and have been having some idling issues with it. At my auto tech class we went through the procedure of adjusting it but that didn't do anything so basically I dont know what else it could be..........what it does is sometimes it idles super low to the point were it quits and other time super high.........and there's been a few times were im at a stop sign and the rpms will rise and then fall and then rise and then fall several times until i get moving again. So if you have any solutions or ideas let me know thanks.

My first thing would be to check for vacuum leaks. Check for cracked hoses. Might need a can of carb cleaner to spray along the lines to help. If there's a leak, the carb cleaner will get sucked in and the idle will change.

Make sure its not overheating when this is going on. That is what the truck does when the coolant temp gets too high... good way to a blown head gasket or cracked/warped head.

Checked for any noticable cracks on the line and couldn't notice any. It doesn't seem to overheat at all.
There looks to be a little nut and bolt that I may be able to adjust the height on to make it idle lower or higher. Some one mentioned about cleaning the throtle body ,too.

The "line"?
There are many many vacuum lines on the 2.6. Given the age, I would start by replacing each and every one of them. Many of them you cannot see. I don't know what you checked, but I have a feeling you were not able to get to every single one.
I would also check the intake tube from the MAF to the throttle body. Look for cracks in the accordion section, especially on the underside.
Do not adjust the throttle stop. That is not how you adjust the idle on the 2.6. It is done via the idle air bypass, but you need to address the underlying issue first. What you are describing is not an idle setting issue.
After that, go back to the basics. Check the timing marks, adjust the valves, set the timing. You can also check the TPS. It has specific settings that need to be checked, especially if it has been messed with.
Good Luck, Michael

Sorry I ment lines not line........just a typo
I guess that does sound right it's probably not an idle issue, cause it has its times were it idles just fine.....Does anyone know of a site were you can get a big set of replacement lines for a 92 2.6L ?

Go to the auto parts store and buy 10 or 12 feet of the correct size hose. Cut it to length and replace it one at a time. I had a similar issue on my 92 rodeo, and I just changed lines and plugs. Changed the fuel filter and drained/cleaned the tank.
I bought mine idling like that though, so that was the first thing I thought to do. Got less than $50 in all those parts, and it idles gret now.
