Hi, I have a 1999 UK sportage hence the OBDI under the hood next to the battery, basically I've been a bit suspicious of my engine check light as it goes out exactly at the same time as the ABS light, so i removed the dash pod and low and behold it has been bodged with a wire connecting the two together, so i removed the wire and now have no engine check light at all (bulb is working), it must have been cut at another point, so now I'm stuck trying to read the fault codes using the old wire and two pin connection at the OBDI connector, does anyone know if there is any way i could wire in a lamp from any other point, Thank you all in advance . Simon.

Just an Update, Pulled out the dash pod again and found that the track had been cut next to the engine management light, fixed this with a blob of solder, and have now found that my fault code was 26 Purge Control Solenoid Valve, i found the connector to be totally corroded up, so i chopped it off and soldered the wires directly on, And hey presto all perfect, engine ticks over great, Simon.
