Has anyone installed the 3.4 HT crate engine in their 2.8 trooper? Just wondering< I read threads on this sight before but the SEARCH feature has somthing to be desired and I can't locate that thread. I bought a 1990 trooper with a 2.8 and auto tranny. The engine is siezed so instead of a rebuild Iwas going to replace it.

I know on the 3.4 HT I need change the timming cover and have my intake bored for a 4.3 thottle body and probably have a custom 2.5" exhaust welded on from the "Y" pipe back.

Are threr any other issues, the disclaimer for the 3.4HT is that it is for carbureted use only. The stock 2.8 injectors are too small, but the 4.3 mod should work well, right?

Thanks again <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/patriot.gif" alt="" />

The fuel delivery statement is for emissions only. the other option instead of the 4.3 throttle body is the Holley TB. it has adjustable fuel pressure regulator as well as higher flow injectors. it is also larger bore. A bit pricey though...

I have the 3.4 crate engine (not sure if it's the HT though) and I am using the 4.3 with the 4.3 injectors. Even though the injectors are bigger the computer still uses the 02 sensor data to put more or less fuel in. just the 4.3L injectors will never be the weakest part of the chain anymore. I also have the 2.5" exhaust now from the y pipe. Sounds a lot better!
