Every now and then you'll find a 2.5L 4D55T or a 2.8L 4M40T on ebay, but they are asking $3000 on up for them (which usually includes a tranny...which I don't really need/want). I often wondered how hard\expensive it would be to import your own rather than buying one from someone who's making a living importing them. I think if I could get a 4M40T imported for around $1500 I'd do it.

ooh check this out www.tadiesels.com/cummins_6C_engines.htmltalk about torque a local auction is selling a 1992 bus that has this engine in it. well this just gives me ideas.... except the engine weight is equal to a suzuki sidekick, and the mpg is no more than 10mpg. sorry, i am just flying through though someone will enjoy this swap idea. if you are let me know, i am going to the auction, so will bid for you.

I think you'd need to extend the front end of the truck a little as well as the firewall to get an inline 6 cyl diesel engine to fit (8.3 liters...yikes!). Now the 4bt Cummins, that may be a different story. 3.9L Turbo 4cyl, can be found in a lot of old GM P30 aluminum box vans (strohman bread trucks). Coupled with the 4.3L tranny/transfer case...hmm... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/scared.gif" alt="" />
