So my trans started to slip today in first-second shift. I was near a trans shop I have dealt with in the past and he got me in. The tech comes to me and says I need to replace this round valve/port/thing on the right side of the trans that is leaking and I'm looking at 2hrs labor and a $25 part.
I know next to nothing about these Trans. I rebuilt my old C-6 years ago, but that is a super-simple 3 spd. These are a different thing all together.
So does this sound resonable or am I getting hosed? What the heck does this thing do anyway?
Thanks!

I had the same thing on my 4L30E , and its not a 2 hour job , my mechanic fixed it in about 30 minutes , all he replaced was a seal under it.
is yours metal or rubber for that round piece? Mine was metal so not sure if that makes a big difference or not.

I thought he said it was ceramic, but maybe he was talking about something else. I thought 2 hrs sounded long to drop a driveshaft and pull a snapring.
You learn something everyday!

Thanks! THAT IS THE SERVO PISTON COVER THAT IS LEAKING, ABOUT 12.00 FOR THE PT. AND AT THE MOST 1 HR LABOR , THE BACK END OF THE DRIVE SHAFT DOES HAVE TO BE MOVED , AND THEN THE PISTON IS REPLACED . NO BIG DEAL. JERRY
