See if you can replicate the noise with the front end in the air. If so, poke around the hub while spinning the front wheel.

I do get a single clunk once in a while when turning and compressing the wheels at the same time. It was explained to me as a bad "half-shaft", I didn't really trust the guy. It still makes the noise occasionally I never heard of "half-shaft" before so I left it alone.


On this link on page SA-46 is what some people call a "half-shaft. Toyota calls them a "Front Drive Shaft". It is the front axles that go from the diff to each wheel. They have a CV type joint on each side and if you wheel IFS you should carry one or two. They are the same for both the PS and DS. They are the weakest link in an IFS front end.

Good call Chunky that was exactly what it was snapped those little cover back to the inner fender well and it stopped makeing the noise.
