Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey E1,

This morning my girl hesitated about 1 second before starting. Has never done this before. I have a good battery. What could be the problem? Starter going, wires loose I checked under the hood and all wires look fine no corrosion. Any thoughts would be helpful.

If it is the starter how hard are they to replace?

Thanks for helping the Mechanically Challenged. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Define hesitated please. For instance, did it do absolutely nothing, or did it not engage the starter, or did it turn over longer than normal before lighting off?

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

Body Damage is Cool
Did the starter hesitate to crank after you turned the key or did the engine hesitate to start after cranking? If the starter is hesitating & all your battery cable & starter connections are clean & tight, then I'd suspect your ignition switch. I regularly get a hesitation or nothing at all the first time I turn the key but it always cranks strong after that. It's been doing that for years now & has never become any worse or not started for me.

it would be more like a dragging then nothing. It starts to engauge then hesitates then cranks over strong.
