Need a Spot
My 87 Montero 2.6 is getting about 18mpg with stock tires.Mostly highway with a little city.A while back milieage went to pot.Found out there was a problem with the distributer.After the fix,back to normal.

Yes I am his older brother.
Well the Monturbo did not like the 5 speed it had... so it tore it up. Hehe well It might have been something to do with the drag Racing we did with it. we have it sitting out back in the yard. tore some of the motor down. I am not sure what he plans on doing with it. I am sure it will be going some time. hey look it took me over 3 years to get mine going and I had all the parts just setting around.


1997 Montero LS with a motor swap a 1990 V6 12valve ported heads full 2.5in Ex I run stock tire size for Daily use, off road have 33x12.5 working on going trubo.

Got 14.5mpg I am sure its going to go up after a few more tanks of gas motor still breaking in and all.

modifications are listed below. i average 22 mpg on the highway at insane elevations (in comparison) 3500+ ft. at sea level i got about 25 mpg

in town @ 3500 ft i get about 18.

this is with the 33"s and not accounting for speedo/odo differential from the bigger tires (so add maybe 1 mpg). i've never tried measuring with my 31"s as i've never had them on since the build.

Hey Tainter,
I met you and your bro in Gainsville a few years back. In my rig I get 19mpg if I baby it, and 13mpg if I go Mach 2. Life starts at Mach 2 lol.
