ours came from a '94 mitsu pickup but you can bolt on any RWD 2.4l out of mighty max, RAM 50, or Montero sport. This swap is a bolt on for 2.6 powered monty the only thing is some engines have different crank bolt patterns so you will need the flexplate that goes to the engine

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the clutch setup from the 2.6 will work on the 2.4?

I'm not sure if the clutch will swap. I do know that the 2.4 flywheel is a 7 bolt where as the 2.6 is a 6 bolt. You might have to go compare the two at a junkyard, I'm not to sure on all the differences.

well, today we will be trying to progress a little bit more on this swap, so we'll keep you posted

chop tops are pretty cool, they are definetly a awesome look to a swb montero. If your gonna do one I suggest a soft top be made to be put back on for certain whether conditions, cause I know out here in AZ there is alot of people that probably wouldn't be able to handle the 117 degree days out here with out a top on

we made progress on the project this sunday, we got the engine
in place and the new mounts tack welded on. Now we just need a heavier duty welding machine to weld it in permanantly.
