curious if anybody knows where to get one other than building one like zuk's i have the regular spanner for std 8" caps but the e locker requires a larger tool. zuk, do you have a parts list and/or some closeup pics of your tool? i want to make sure the cbpl is 150ft lbs on the cap.

Nobody makes one....and I don't have any close up pics of the EL spanner.....my next design will be this and it will work great for ALL adjuster wheels.

not a bad design, like an adjustable spanner wrench... i might go get some flat bar and try that. also zuk, what do you use for the pins? i thought about using rollers from an old bearing or something like that... i just dont want to end up shearing one and have a bunch of bloody knuckles!!

thanks for the drawing too. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Ha! That's a pitiful drawing but it gets the point across....thanks to Microsoft Paint! smile
I was figuring on using 1" wide flat-stock....either 3/16 or 1/4" thick. I was going to use 5/16" or 3/8" grade 5 or 8 bolts.....I forget which was the better fit right at this moment. The bolts would have about 3/4" of solid shoulder(no threads)...that way, I could cut off the excess thread part and end up with what looks like a solid pin and has excellent strength and less chance of damaging the adjuster wheel.
I would weld the bolt heads in place. Done.

edit--- I just inspected a regular Toyota adjuster wheel and an ARB wheel and determined that a 1/4" grade 8 bolt will fit with no grinding.

As my pic suggests...make the pivot arm long enough such that it will pivot over to the other side of the main bar. That way, you can effectively LOOSEN the adjuster wheel (the pins are pushed outwards to prevent them from slipping out).

yea just a little longer than the main bar to clear the end... very nice. i also figured 1/4" flat bar and ill weld in the pins from an old bearing i have here... they are i inch long by about 5/16 diameter and super freekin hard. i may use cold rolled steel because its a bit stronger and wont bend quite as easy. anyways thanks for the advice. i may hit you up if i run into any problems regearing the e locker. where do you get your bearing kits and gears from? randys? also the e locker gears are simply v6 gears correct?

I'm making a universal spanner right now. I just bought a 3 foot piece of 1"x.25" flat stock from Home Depot for 7.50.....a couple of grade 8 1/4" bolts from Ace for 1.36....just have to go home and fire up the chop saw now.
I sometimes get the bearing kits from http://performanceoffroadcenter.com .....and sometimes from http://ringpinion.biz

I tend to prefer the Motive gears from ringpinion.biz

The E-locker uses the usual V6 gears but I prefer to use the Motive 4 cylinder gears and simply use about a .215" shim(Motive gear based) to make everything work out nicely.

now that .215" is total shim correct? or is that extra on top of the factory shim?
