Need a Spot
I bought another Trooper TD a few months ago and have only gotten 22 mpg around town and on trips. I have had the injectors rebuilt, new air filter and new fuel filter. It runs great, but blows some diesel out the tailpipe on acceleration. The turbo also makes a "rattling" sound on acceleration (2500-3000 rpm) only. Any suggestions???

I too was concerned about a little turbo tinny rattle noise, but while doing the clutch replacement I felt of the turbo shaft and there is very little play to it. I had almost been convinced it was wearing from the noise. I can't comment on the 22mpg, thats what I get mixed city / road on 235/75's.

CHECK THE HEAT SHEILDS ON THE TURBO, THE ONE ON THE DRV SIDE FACING THE FENDER AND THE FRT ONE THAT WRAPS AROUND THE FRONT OF THE TURBO, THEY WILL GET HAIR LINE CRACKS AROUND THE BOLTS HOLES AND RATTLE LIKE CRAZY , MOST OF THE TIME YOU WELD THEM BACK UP AND THE NOSIE WILL GO A WAY JERRY
