I been to Man-a-two Springs....dont know how to spell it though. Way up on a mountain outside that little town, I think it was an old railroad...the story was the railroad stopped being built because of lack of funding, General Grant maybe?

dont remember that was a long damn time ago. Probably a big town now

Manatou Springs. It's still somewhat of a sleepy old town.

I don't know about the railroad, though. All I know about is the Cog Railway, which takes you to the top of Pike's Peak. I've never ridden it.

at the time- 30 years ago - it was just a road that went up about X thousands of feet in elevation. It went several miles of "switch backs" It might have been gated even back then. There were just a few houses at the top.

I dont know what it is like now, but that was one of the finest places I ever been

That would be Manitou Springs!
Probably engine or something (like Indian)
The Cog railway is really nice, expensive but nice when out of towners visit. is right...
I just want to go wheeling, high alt. with the nice views

okay I googled it.
Couldnt find documentation of an abandoned railroad project because Grant couldnt stay sober. Anyway, I asked the guy who brought me there why this road went nowhere...I mean it was like a 5 -10 mile long driveway to a few houses... and he says it was an old railroad from the 1800's. And this wasnt like other parts around Pikes that look like the moon landscape or something. This all was forest and wildlife.

It seems I was in that town years before they started fixing the place up. Still I thought it was a cool place, I didnt realise the history until reading tonight
