I have the vehicle stripped of interior for Herculiner, and I thought I'd pull the dash to clean out the vents, but it's giving me trouble. I removed the 12mm side bolts and the 12mm nut behind the center gauges, but it's still stuck, can anyone help? I'm taking pics along the way so maybe I can help someone else at a later date.

Download the 89 manual from www.mitsubishilinks.com and see if you got all the mounting bolts.

You'll need to look at the BODY sub-section (23), starting at page 72.

Thanks guys, I found the last two bolt/nuts. You have to pry up the side window defroster vents, there are nuts behind them. Now that my dash is out, should I throw in a heater core, or anything while I'm in there?

Well done, m8! Those vents really needed a good cleaning!
The heater core might be worth a look, but do you want to spend the ~$300 for a new one? Since you know how easy it is to remove the dash now, you can always replace it if you had to.

I agree, I looked at it while I was in there and it looked fine (like I would know what a bad one looked like)
now that I know how to remove the dash, it will be no big deal if the heater motor, or evap core, or anything else goes bad.

IMHO removal is usually easier than replacement/reassembly.
JK... sort of anyway.
Glad to see you got it apart w/out issues.

Since you have it apart, can you tell me if there looks to be enough room for a vertical tube (for a cage) to penetrate the dash and go to the floor? I'm curious if there's any sheet metal/ducting that will prevent this in the left and right corners by the windshield frame.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can give.
