Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hi guys,

It's been a while since I posted last, hope everyone is doing well.
I'm seeking advice on a wierd problem I have with my 93 Surf/4Runner 3VZE - rear left PW goes down by LR PW switch, no up, nothing from driver master switch.
and it's intermittant. it works fine after a day or two, but does the same thing after a few minutes.
Driver side master switch was swapped with a known working one - no go.
LR PW switch was swappeed with a known working one - no go.
I can only assume this to be a relay issue. Can anyone tell me where the relay is?
any help would be much appreciated!!
Thanks in advance! Ken

We've got a manual for a 93 sticky'd in the top of this section; should be able to find it in the body electric section. Seems to me they're in the center console area, but give the FSM a look.

How's the door wire harness look? That's a problem area also.

Hi again,

I took a look at the wire diagram, for the PW's but didn't see a relay specific to the PW. Does one even exist?
I'll check the wire harness and see if that is the culprit, also check the center console for any relays.
Thanks, will let you know the outcome.

Not sure if the 2nd gens use the same switch design as the 1st gens, but I have some information on the power window switches (1st gen variety) below:

Wow!
Really nice write up 4Crawler! Definately going into my favorites.
Well, I took a look again at the truck. Thought time would make it self heal but no go. Then, I realized something. The Window was working fine when I was driving it, but not when I wasn't. The only difference was the doors were shut when driving.
Turns out that when the driver doors is shut, the windows work fine from both swithes, when the driver door is open, the gremlins come in.
I guess it's tracking the gremlins in the driverside wiring harness!

Start with the door switch (plunger type). Thanks for keeping us updated; good thread. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the advice!
So the door switch, meaning the interior light switch or the pw window switch on the door?
sorry for the dumb question...
