Getting the Wheeling Fever
Just Curious.

Mine is just about to hit 350K!

Still runs great and I still drive it about 30-60 miles a day (just put 140 on it today).
It recently passed TX inspection\emissions in 2/08.
Still averaging about 17mpg City and 20mpg Highway.
Does not burn or leak oil.
Everything works except A\C (needs compressor) and Rear Window Defroster.
Interior is in good shape except for headliner.
Body is in great shape.

I have not taken it in for the Steering Rod Relay recall yet but I plan to soon.

Does Toyota offer any type of special recognition like they used to in the '80's where you could get into a commercial? (Oh What A Feeling To Drive, TOYOTA!)

I love this truck immensely but unfortunately the time has come to let her go (baby on the way!!!)...

Does anyone have an opinion on whether I could still get $2k or more for this truck in the Austin,TX area?

Very cool distilled! Wow 350K huh, that's cool. I have the same truck but with an Automatic, it's at 196K now, but the engine was rebuilt by Toyota 8K ago. Truck is in great shape, frame starting to show some rust though in spots, especially underneath the rear, good to hear I have a lot more miles in it though.

I just bought this one for $2K, but I don't think the guy selling it knew how new the motor was, so he probably could have gotten more for it, he thought it had 50 or 60K on it, but I called the dealer that did the work and he told me they did it under the head gasket recall at 188K.

With 350K miles on it, original motor and tranny, I don't know if you'll get 2K, but it can't hurt to try, you never know. Maybe at least put it up for that and see what people offer you.

Might go a lot easier with that 5spd though, those are tough to come by, and whenever you do see one for sale, they are gone in a day. All the cab drivers up here in NY, buy them up and send them back to whatever country they are from, Latin America, Africa...etc. Nobody in those places wants to deal with an Auto, and they probably can't get them fixed anywhere there.

I know a guy at a little used car stealership and he said he can't hold onto any 5spd Toyota or Nissan truck, either pickups or SUV's. He's the one that told me about the cab drivers, they drive by and see it and it's gone.

So being in TX you never know, probably a good market for those down in Mexico, especially 5spd.

Good Luck, call Toyota and see if you can get in an ad before you sell it.

Take it easy.

I have a 85 4runner with 305k and my Dad has an LS400 I used to own that's up to 313k.I worked at a Toyota Dealership here in Columbus and we had a guy that would buy EVERY 4x4 that our used car dept would sell him and he would ship them out of the country.

I just bought my 88 4x4 truck in Killeen Texas for $2K even. It has 238,700 miles and an overhaul about 30k miles back. It looks like holy hell, but doesn't use a drop of anything 'cept gas, no leaks, and will run 70 mph down the road all day long with the stock 4:10 gears. So yes, you can get your 2K in Texas. They are running almost 4K on eBay. Had to do a lot of shopping and hit a lucky just-posted buy-it-now to get mine at that price.

I'm in the same boat...Just moved further way from school, and work. Though My miles are less, 227k. Hopefully this summer I will have time to make it to the Sand Dunes with it, and run some trails.

313K and going and going and...
Terribly lots of rust (all over). Back door all screw up. power window only work with my lawn mower tractor batterie.
Lots of Cling-Cling and Clong-Clong!
Bone stock.
I payed 600$ this winter for it
I put 60$ for a new muffler and 15$ for brake lines. (that was not fun when line broke right in the middle of the city )
Still loving it!

I've got the same rig. mine has 375+K

I just had the topend done, but that was because the last shop really F@cked up the last time. My new mech said they used the wrong headgasket...the thinks it was for a Camry.

Right now it is running real strong, but it needs CV boot, muffler, tie-rod warranty thingy and a PS box (the PS has a slight leak. I've had a spare for the last 2yrs, but haven't wanted to deal with the pitman arm.

I think the only major things I haven't repaired/replaced is the transmission, xfter case, cat, and ball-joints.
