Getting the Wheeling Fever
So I have been rebuilding my little motor and have just reinstalled the head, but after a little reading I am not sure if I lubed everything up like has been indicated in some recent reads.

Would it hurt anything for me to back them all out and apply the oil to the head of the bolt, and other noted locations, and then reinstall them per the engnbldr method.

I haven't put anything else back on yet so now is the time to do this if I need to.

I did chase all the holes and try to get all the oil out prior to installing the new bolts, but I didn't lube under the heads and I just don't want to open myself up to a premature HG failure.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
-Tucker

As long as you did this, you should be fine. Oiling the top of the bolt head is making sure you will get an accurate ft/lb torque reading.

I would drive it to work or where ever, then come home. Then let it cool down and re-tighten the bolts. Drive it for ~500mi or so then re-tighten again. After that you should be fine.

I wouldn't loosen the bolts after they've been torqued down. At this point you've already crushed the HG. Loosing it up will definitely cause problems. Even if it is one bolt at a time.

Beside you need to re-tighten the bolts after a couple heat cycles anyway. Don't tempt the HG Devil. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />
