Driving my daughter's swb today and felt too close to the steering wheel. I think we put a bouncy seat from a lwb in it but can't remeber. Is there a difference or am I going nuts? Maybe slider is jammmed but the seat seem to be as far back as the passenger side when fully back. I've gotten rid of my other swb trucks so i've nothing to compare.

I think they're the same, except the later model Gen I bouncy-seat frame has an extra mounting tab. But it will still fit an earlier model. Also, there is a spring-type model and a shock-absorber-type model. Both of mine are the shock-absorber-type.

There are three boucy seat bases that I've seen in Gen I's:
1. to Jan 87, there was the spring type that has the adjuster on the left side (LHD models), 4 mount holes;
2. from Feb 87 to late 88 with the introduction of the V6 model, the seat base has a shock absorber, adjuster on the front, and 4 mount holes;
3. The V6 introduction plus is the same as No. 2, but with two additional mounts located at the rear of the assembly.

There were some differences in the scales, too. Some read by pounds, others read by soft to hard. I've had examples of all these bases. My Raider has the 4-bolt shock bases, my wife's 4-door has one 6-bolt, one 4-bolt.

The impression of being too close to the dash may be the steering wheel, larger on the late models, smaller on the early models.

Could be the tilt setting of the wheel as well.

It's been awhile since I've spent any time behind the wheel of this truck. Most recently I'd been occasionally driving an 88 5speed montero swb that I recently sold. Maybe the big steering wheel does make the difference. My daughter has had this truck away at college for the last 2 years and I've been driving it around a cause it's up for sale. Everytime I get behind the wheel it just feels strange.

Thanks for the input.
