A friend of mine had a Mazda MPV, which he says had the same Mitsubishi 2.6 in it that I have only fuel injected. He says that the B2600's have the same motor too. Is this true, and if so has anyone tried swapping the fuel injection onto a Gen 1 2.6?

Not true for the MPV, that would have the Mazda designed and made B6 engine, before the B6 Mazda did use the G54 in the pickup for a couple years.
