Getting the Wheeling Fever
OK, so I have a '98 Montero with the stock wheels (15x8 with 0 offset, I believe) and I want to upgrade the tire size. I am looking at 32x11.5x15, will that fit?

I am leaning toward the OME setup which should give me a .75" lift, will that make a difference with wheel fitment?

Any recommendation regarding the standard vs. heavy duty OME rear shocks? I typically drive to work by myself, but on weekends and offroad I have the wife and 2 kids and our stuff in the back. Will the OME setup adequatly support a front Bull Bar down the road? If I got OME, Should I get the OME Torsion Bar as well, along with the shocks and springs?

Based on what I have read, it doesn't sound like I will need to crank the front torsion bar up enough to need to trim the bump stops. Is that right?

Thanks for your help.

They should fit... But I'm not totally sure. Someone else will chime in.

I put 33x10.5x15s on my stock 98 with no problems.

That 'suspension test' is really cool! I watched it over and over and in super slow motion! What dunes are those?

Wow, so 33's will fit. Hmmmm, now what to do.

What I find interesting, is that there doesn't appear to be any 33x11.5x15 tires, you have to either go 10.5 or 12.5 in 33's. You said you are running 10.5's and appear to be pleased. I am sure 12.5's would be too wide for an 8" rim. It looks like the price is about the same for 32x11.5's and 33x10.5's. They both weigh 47 pounds for the BFG A/T's. Anyone want to comment on an advantage for one size over the other? Thanks!

I am pretty sure that 33x12.50's will rub when stuffing the tire. thats why people go with 10.50's. I have 2" of lift on mine and I have 285/75R16's (33x11.5 roughly) and it is a little tight, I have heard them rub a couple times but not severely

The best installed prices I can find for the BFG All Terrain T/A KO's are from Costco. The 32x11.5x15's are $164.99 each. The 33x10.5x15's are $146.99 each. Plus Costco is offering $60 off a full set in June. The price includes Shipping & Handling, Mounting, Balancing, Lifetime Services, Nitrogen Inflation, New Rubber Valve Stem, Environmental Tire Disposal, and the Costco Road Hazard Warranty. At a savings of $18 plus $1.49 in tax per tire, it sounds like the 33's are for me! Taller and cheaper (No, I don't work at Costco...just sharing what I found.)

It will be interesting to hear how the driving is after. My 95 with 3.0 24V and 4.63 does not drive at grade any where near as nice as with 31x10.5s, or any where near as nice as the turbo 87. That is with the 33s mounted on steelies.

You will have 200HP (204HP?), but 4.2x gears. What are you using for wheels?

I just have the stock wheels. I do have the 3.5L, so that is a plus. However, I do drive in the mountains quite a bit, so it will be interesting to see how it handles driving over the passes. I guess if it is terrible, I will have to look into swapping the gears...if that is even an option. (I can see my gas mileage plummeting...)

I'm running 33x12 on stock wheels on my 95 SR with no modifications at all. Just a few turns on the torsion bar bolts to get the front end up a little. The ride is great.
