Wanted to pull out my cruise control and AC system.

for the cruise system:
-How hard is it to pull out the cable
-if I just cap the vacuum line will that adversely affect anything.

for AC:
-If I wanted to completely remove the compressor, what would you recommend to do with the serp belt and pulley? It seems like it would be a long stretch for the belt go from the Alternator to the power steering pump. Maybe I could put something else in that spot like another alternator??

-How hard is it to pull out the rest of the tubing and whatever is behind the firewall?

Thanks in advance!

Just wanted to give an update on this.

-The cruise wasn't so bad. The cable goes all the way to your gas pedal, it pops right off the pedal clip and wasn't an issue at all.

-now the ac wasn't too bad either. I wasn't able to pull the condenser or whatever is behind the firewall (have no idea how to get back there, probably have to pull apart the dash and go that way.

I am really looking to pull the compressor too, has anyone had any luck with that? Not sure what to do with the belt. I would assume I should keep the pulley there but it seems like I should put more tension on the belt by lowering the pulley a bit. Again not really sure how to achieve this. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Life here without a/c is unbearable <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/evil.gif" alt="" />.

But, why not keep the compressor and use it for onboard air?

It's actually has a leak anyway. So I tried putting my belt on without the ac compressor and with the pulley it looks like it might work even though its a long run from the alternator to the power steering. So I think I'm just going to try without it! Wish me luck!

There is a different part number for the belt on engines without the A/C. You should be able to just use that belt.

Yeah I wish, but I've already taken off my little air pump for the exhaust. I was told it would jam up when I took it underwater. It's ok I just get to take a couple trips to autozone.

Just out of curiosity, what does the non ac trooper do with it's belt. Anyone have a picture?

Found a belt that works! Here is the part number if anyone is interested:

first gen chevy v6 2.8L or 3.4L engines, bypassing ac compressor and smog pump

798K6

seems to fit great!

Just wanted to update everyone. The old belt was a little too loose. I went back and got a Duralast 790K6 and it fits much better.
