Hi All, My wife was driving the sportage last weekend and it shut off on her and we had it towed home. I bought a code reader and found to have the following codes. P1115, P0442 and P1624. Would any of these codes cause it to not start. I know prior to it stalling, it was hard to start in the mornings. I'll appreciate any feedback that I can get. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/angry.gif" alt="" />

It doesn't look like the codes would have much to do with it not starting. I'd start checking somewhere else. Timing belt?

Hi Homerdog, I replaced the timing belt around Oct of last year and I've checked it to see if it indeed popped, but nope it's still intact. Do you think I may have a bad ground somewhere?

Does the engine crank? It could very well be the timing belt, clogged fuel filter, or even bad plug boots.
If the engine cranks, I'd check the timing belt. If it doesn't crank, check the battery/ground connections.
A clogged fuel filter will keep it from firing even if it cranks.
The Sportage plug wires/boots have been known to crack and not allow enough spark get to the plugs to fire the engine.
Pull the plugs on cylinder #2 and #4 the ones with the black block over the plug and inspect the entire black plastic piece to see if there are any cracks. There is also a fuse inside the rubber boot so be careful when you pull the rubber boot off this plastic housing.

There are a plenty of issues with the fuel pump, and rarely did someone come back with a precise indication of how he solved the problem but yes, at least check for fuel pressure at the fuel rail; there are 2 relays (main and fuel pump) www.geocities.com/lmp4203/kiasport/FusesOUT.jpg and both have to work properly to have the fuel pump in operation.
