Need a Spot
Hello All,

I've got a sagging rear spring on my 96 Sporty. What are my options for replacements? Any idea of the cost? I am looking for OEM stuff, my Sporty is a Mall Queen after all.

Also, is it me or did Kia stop offering a parts manual online? It was only a week ago that I checked out a replacement power window regulator there and now I can't find the site. Funny too is the fact a new power window motor etc. for the drivers side window from the dealer was $70 and the junkyard wanted $175 for a used one!

Thanks,
Stanley

Im not sure what springs keep it stock height, Jeep TJ springs lift them 3 to 4 inches, you could buy a lot of stuff at the mall to level it out . If you have any spring manufactures in you erea call to see if they can make some for you or maybe some one here has some left over after they lifted thiers.

As for the on line manual sometimes I can find it and sometimes I can't and I have it in my favorites. Keep trying it might show up.

I just bought some tj springs so I'll have a pair of stock ones extra, that is if Dennis ever posts a picture of his front spacers so I can make a set to keep mine level.

Homer,
Which ones did you get(what number is on tag)?

SJS,
Hope that a spring replacement keeps the rear from sagging...but...does that mean if you put a bra on the front that will keep it from sagging...???

I don't have them yet. I found them on ebay, the guy said they were off a 2006 Wrangler with a hard top. He gave me some numbers off them but they weren't the typical 104 or 105 numbers so hopefully they fit. I got them for $10 plus $18 for shipping so it's not like I'm out a bunch if they don't fit.

I'm sorry, I don't have any spacers to take pics of and I don't know if you read the (upyourkia no more) post but I am not making them anymore. Upyourkia is not dead though, I have been approached from a member here and when things are final I will make an anouncement who it is. I feel very confident he will up hold the quality and service that I tried very hard to achieve.

I have a set of the OEM springs that I was going to give to a buddy of mine for his 96 Sportage that is doing the same thing. But I noticed that the end coils on both of mine were broken off just like his. This is what makes the springs look like they are sagging. One brakes off and then the other eventually brakes off too.

This is the small section of the coil where it narrows down in both wire diameter and turn radius to give it a variable spring rate.

You can order them from www.kiaparts.com or try some salvage yards to see if they have any.

Thanks, Logansportage. That was exactly the information I needed to know.
