Hey guys/gals, im in the middle of cleaning up a '82-ish solid front axle in preperation for a SAS. The axle i got here is missing both king pins and their bearings on one side. None of the parts stores where i live could track down any of these parts, as in their suppliers dont even make em Are these OEM parts only? Does anybody know where else i can find these important parts? Thanks.

Yeah, they'd be dealer only, if they can still get them. Try the 4sale/wanted forums of BBS's like this, or a local club BBS.

Bearings: www.marlincrawler.comwww.allprooffroad.comby king-pin, I'm assuming you mean the bottom caps? If so, they are pretty easy to come by. I'm sure I have 1/2 dozen somewhere. If you mean the top caps with the steering arms, who cares? You'll be replacing them w/ hi-steer anyway.

Thanks bkg... Yup, my mistake, i meant the "cap" on the bottom. However i just found one and was lucky enough to score it off a buddy. Heheh yeah, looked at the front axle break-down and the SAS kit and they do include the new steering arms. Am i also correct in assuming that most knuckle rebuild kits include those 2 little tapered bearings on the top and bottom of the knuckle?

Out of curiosity...would it be possible, in a bind lets say, to use a stock steering arm, bolt it in place of the lower bearing cap, and cut the steering arm portion off? Are the bolt holes the same? I'm pretty sure the bearings and races are.
