I was wondering if anyone can help me. I am going to give my girls xterra a tune up, but i cant find the torque spec for the plugs. i cant find it any of the owners manuals, and the dealers just want me to bring it in. Its an 03 v6. not the turbo.

I didn't even know there was a torque spec for a plug....I have always just tightened them snug when I've checked or changed them. Maybe I've been lucky?

Mee too dbl.. I'm guessing I put maybe 20ftlbs.. I just tighten em with my wrist not my arm.. I have had to get broke plugs out of other guys heads...not a pretty thing!

I have always just tightened spark plugs too. I think the official torque for a plug with a crush gasket, is to tighten the plug until the gasket is crushed.

ya i always did till snug, but then i was looking through my hondas owner manual and came across the torque spec for those plugs and it was 13ftlbs. good thing i cought that cause i think my snug is tighter than 13lbs. so just out of curiosity i check the jeep and its was 27 or 28 cant quite remember. so thats why i was asking about the xterra. and can you believe it asked for platnum plugs.

Not sure about the torque spec, doesn't take much with the crush washers. A bit of copper antisieze on the treads is good for next time. Soak the plug base in liquid wrench for a couple hours if it doesn't come out easy.
I've heard the #6 plug on the Xterra (much like the Toyota 3VZE V6) is a ROYAL pain in the to get a socket on. You might need a couple universal joints and extensions.
