It'd be nice to get together to do Eagle Rock, Chinaman's Gulch, or some other such trail. Those are fun and stock vehicles can get through (albeit with some challenges).

Let me just say I friggen love this place. You guys are all awesome. If you guys are going to hook up, I would love to stop by and take a peek. My wrenching and Montero experience is pretty limited right now, but looking to expand that. I keep hearing about all these trails in the foothills not far from here, and I cant wait to check some of them out.
Welcome to the Forum, I live over in Superior and work at Boulder Valley School District....we are practically neighbors. My '98 is stock right now, but I have a full suspension upgrade on order and it should be in this week. Once again, welcome! If you see me driving around, it is white with gray bottom and Michigan plates Chad, you're welcome to stop by! I have a modest set of tools. I think I'll be able to get us by on what I have. I also have a nice heavy duty floor jack and two jack stands. I need two more. Sure, I can head up there. I'm tied up today, tomorrow, and this coming Sunday, but the following week I should be clear. If Chad can make it over, maybe we can make a wrenching party of it. Keep me appraised of when your parts come in and we'll see about making this happen.
Joe, you are the man. Just say when. I'll be off next Monday and Tuesday. I'm ordering those seals now, so they should be on the way tomorrow and here by Monday or Tuesday. Hopefully that is the source of the oil leak. I really want to get this thing streetable, with zero leaks underneath! My cell is (970)690-2191... or you can PM me here, email me at imzadi930 (@) yahoo dot com or hell, even just post in this thread. I think its time for a Denver/Springs Meet n Greet sometime soon. CwnAnwyn, I have no idea where Falcon is, but my garage is your garage.
When your ready to go turbo. You will need to come shopping at my house for a few parts. Can probably also cover you on hood, fenders, grill. May even have an old set of rock sliders. Highmtndesert, I'd love to raid your parts bin. If you have a straight hood, fenders, grill, rock sliders... I'd be all over them. What color are the body panels? Red??!!?? I may need some help next year with the turbo build. I think you're right. In fact, you and I never did meet, although we kicked around the idea a while back. This meet would be a good get-together.
Cochese, you got a barbeque? Ya like how I'm volunteering your house for a meet 'n greet? My place is your guys place. I have a grill AND a deck. PM me and I'll hook you up with the handle. RXinHed, PM en route. I forgot to include my lecture about cooling . The 2.6 head will crack at the slightest overheat. With this in mind please have your radiator rodded and replace the water pump and fan clutch with OEM parts. Also replace both radiator hoses and the heater hoses near the firewall. On the back side of the carb there is also a hose for heating the carb, don't miss that one !
You will also want to rig up the AC fan to a manual switch. This allows you to run the AC fan without the AC on. A real lifesaver on a hot slow trail. I also suggest a Stant heavy duty 180 degree thermostat. It's runs a little cool and you loose some MPG but way better than replacing the head.
Last but not least if you see the temp guage rising, don't be afraid to Cowboy Up, reach down and turn the heat on full blast. You don't have to real manly, it's ok to roll down the windows
Oh, NKG spark plugs, OEM wire and KYB shocks. Welcome to the Wire LRJ4x4, I've had two Conquests... I'm ready to replace the radiator and hoses. So KYB shocks, huh? I saw a set of Skyjackers on eBay for $150 shipped offering a 1-2" lift. Thoughts? Sounds like there's a meet/greet in the works here. Umm... so when? PVDub, your welcome anytime... I'm down the street in Westminster. Damn, all these Coloradan's coming out of the woodwork! Monty Fest '08 Reknawj, I'm in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Welcome to the Mitsu tech forum on the 'wire. Glad you like what you've found so far.
I see the other members have given you a proper welcome and you have quite a few decent resources relatively local to you.

I like the thorough collection of pix! They certainly clearly show the issues. Does look like your valve cover is leaking up front (the old dust-filled sludge), but the oil spill's way to wet by the fuel pump to not be leaking. Interior actually looks reasonable, the rear seat at least seems good. Dump the K&N air intake, it's not a good enough filter, and it's sucking in hot engine compartment air. Swap back to the Mitsu air supply system from the passenger fender, and get back to cool air intake. Get the REAL Mitsu air filter in the carb's pan/housing, it's the toughest filter out there, and will help a LOT on future wear. If there is no filter around the carb, you're in deep sh!t, as the warm air intake for cold starts is after the K&N (it's the short fat air hose coming down from the pan's "handle". Lots of small lamp/lenses needed, but they should be easily found among the guys already offering help. My vote on the sheet metal is to replace it if you're gonna re-paint...
I'd like to contribute a "spare" (If I still have it...) rad from my pre-4.3L days with the 2.6L , it's an aftermarket nearly new one I scrounged at a wrecker's as a spare. I no longer need it. You cover the shipping, and it's yours. Might take some excellent packaging to ship from BC, but should be good.
Colorado is one of my favourites. Been there 3 times now, and met the Capn while there the last time, and HighMtn the past 2 trips, and they're for real. You're certainly meeting the right guys here! ...I've been a regular Russell-partstentman.com supporter, too, he's got the stuff!
edited Oh, and get the Stant 180 thermostat. Thermostat: Stant Heavy Duty 180 degree, part # 45868
For some reason the KYB's seem the best match for this rig. KYB Gas-A-Just front shocks, KG5603A Rear KG4034

Uh-oh. I bought it with the K&N setup. I don't have any stock parts. *****, I haven't checked it the stock filter is still in the stock housing! I really hope so! Dammit! I'll add the thermostat to the list of parts to buy. I'll take the radiator! Do you know what kind it is or have any pics? Shoot me a PM and let me know how much I need to send and I can paypal you! This is more of a brotherhood, than a forum. You guys are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the wiper arm and the little grommet, too. I could make you a deal on the fenders and grille valance, but that stuff is just tin, easily bent/restored; however, I have all three pieces.

Mr. PTM- Do you think I could go to a body shop to get the majority of that stuff fixed, fender/grille/valance/hood wise? I'll take all of the lenses, wiper arm/grommet, etc. PM was received and the reply is en route!
