Getting the Wheeling Fever
I did a couple of searches and could not find the answer to this.

I am the second owner of this truck, and I appear to have the premium Infinity sound system with the 10 disc CD changer in my '98 full size Montero. My factory radio lost power and is now asking for a 4 digit security code. There doesn't seem to be anyway to bypass this. Is there anything I can do to get this working? I don't have the extra cash to purchase and install an aftermarket system right now. Thanks for your input.

if your dealer is willing to work with you or you know someone there they can get the code for you off their tech website.

im not sure if you need just the VIN or the VIN and the radio numbers. expect to have your registration too.

Some quotes from search:

Quote
The Gen II's have a radio security feature built into them. When ever the power is disconected it is reset. I don't know how the code is determined, but I think it is generally written inside the manual. Otherwise you'll have to talk to the dealer.

On my '00, the individual Radio Code was supplied on a separate little Credit Card-sized "document" within the Owner's Manual so that it could be kept somewhere separate from the Vehicle. The Dealer programmed in the Code before I picked up the Vehicle.

call the dealer. I was leaving for a trip and that happened. I calld the dealer after I was about 50 miles away. HE lookedup the code and talked me through it. Easy and fast. Then you mark the code in your manual and it never happens again.

Quote
With the radio serial number and his VIN he can call 1-888-MITSU2005 and they'll give him the radio code for free.

You may try calling your local mitsu dealer and giving them your vin number. they maybe able to hook you up with your code for the radio.

WOW! I need to learn how to use the search function better! My apologies, and thanks for the responses.

No problemo. When searching for specific keywords, put a "+" sign at the start of each word, such as +security +code. Or you could enclose a search phrase within quotes, such as "security code". Of course, tailor your search to the forum(s) being searched, the username who posted what you might thinking of (if you know), the date range, and number of posts per result-page.

Of course you probably didn't realize it then but thats why you should call the toll free number instead. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/lol.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />
