I can't find an AMP meter for a car in my town. I was told that AMP meters are obsolite technology.....

I had to order one from JC whittney. Does anyone know the rated output of the Toyota Alternator that is in a roughly 1987 22REC Pickup?

Like 65AMPS at like 2,000 RPM?

One guy asked me... Are you sure you dont mean an RPM meter?

I juat want to see how much my battery is soaking up on recharge and or how much I am pulling off of it on start and run with all my electrical crap running... It's not rocket science!

Can anyone recomend a certain one that they like that I can order?

Search for "ammeter" on the web. You can get inexpensive in-line meters at most auto parts stores (60-0-60 amps is common). Of get a high end meter with a current shunt that goes in-line with the high current and then small wires run back to the meter.

I would like the shunted model. I think I found the one I want at JC. a Napa store 20Miles away has a 60A Sunpro in stock. I may just go pick that up. Haven't yet found anyone (Including Radio Shack) who knows what a Shunt is! Thanks for the advise.
